Description: Kolkwitzia also known as Beauty bush is a medium sized dense, twiggy shrub. Arching branches all around this large plant give this large fast growing border shrub a fountain effect.  Related to Abelia and having a genus of one species.

Flower: This shrub flowers beautifully in late spring with masses of bell-shaped light pink flowers dotted with yellow.
Foliage: 2" lance shaped leaves that often turn red in the fall
Misc. info: To promote new and vigorous flowering prune periodically old shoots to the ground.  Remove deadwood in spring.

Site: Flowers best in full sun but will tolerate light shade.  Needs well-drained evenly moist soil.
